Slow down or speed up any song

This free audio speed changer plays your file back at a different rate, exactly like slowing down a tape or a vinyl record: slower also means deeper, faster also means higher. That is precisely how the classic slowed + reverb sound and nightcore edits are made — and both are one-click presets here.

How to make a slowed + reverb edit

  1. Drop your song into the box above.
  2. Click the Slowed + Reverb preset (75% speed, big ambience) — or dial in your own speed and reverb amount.
  3. Hit Render, preview the result, download the WAV.

Tape-style vs time-stretching

Changing speed the tape way shifts pitch along with tempo: at 80% speed everything drops about 3.9 semitones and gains that heavy, dreamy character. If you want to change tempo without changing pitch, that is time-stretching, which your DAW does best — use the Tape / Vari-Speed Calculator to see exactly how speed, pitch and BPM relate, and the Pitch & Semitone Calculator to convert semitones to playback rates.

FAQ

Is the speed changer free?

Yes - free forever, no sign-up, no watermarks. Rendering happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Does changing speed change the pitch?

Yes, on purpose - this tool works tape-style, so slowing down also lowers pitch (that is the slowed + reverb sound) and speeding up raises it (nightcore). At 125% speed, pitch rises about 3.9 semitones.

How do I make nightcore?

Drop the song and click the Nightcore preset - 125% speed with no reverb is the classic recipe. Some editors go up to 130-135% for an even brighter sound.

Can I use the result in my own uploads?

The tool gives you a WAV of whatever you process, but copyright stays with the rights holders - get permission before publishing edits of someone else's music.
