How to record

Click Start recording and allow microphone access.
Watch the meter while you speak or sing — healthy peaks sit around −12 to −6 dBFS. If the meter turns red, lower your input gain.
Click Stop, preview the take, and download the WAV.

Getting a better recording

Browsers apply echo cancellation and noise suppression by default, which strangles music recordings — this tool turns those off so you hear your mic honestly. Record in the quietest room you have, stay 10–20 cm off the mic, and cut the take’s dead air afterwards with the Silence Trimmer. If the level came out low, run it through the Audio Normalizer.

How do I test if my mic works?

Hit Start and speak: if the meter moves, your mic works. The readout shows your peak level in dBFS and warns you the moment the signal clips.

What peak level should I aim for?

Around -12 to -6 dBFS for voice. That leaves headroom for processing while staying well above the noise floor.

Why does my recording sound thin or muffled?
