1. Start with the 808 and kick — the foundation

Lay 1/16 hats, then add triplet and 1/32 rolls with velocity changes so the groove breathes.
3. Hard snare or clap on beat 3 — the backbone
Classic trap puts the snare on the 3. Layer a clap for width and snap.
4. Dark, simple melody — the mood
A minor piano, bell or pluck line. Keep it sparse and leave room for the 808.
5. Arrange and mix — make it knock
