What Soundtoys did last Black Friday
Plugin Boutique's 2025 Black Friday guide called it Soundtoys Black Friday Madness: all Soundtoys releases on sale, with the biggest cut on the Soundtoys 5.5 bundle at 60% off, until December 4. That makes Soundtoys one of the brands where waiting for the sale clearly pays.
Soundtoys 5.5: the bundle math
The Soundtoys 5.5 bundle lists at $599 and includes every Soundtoys plugin: EchoBoy, Decapitator, Little AlterBoy, PrimalTap, SpaceBlender, SuperPlate, Crystallizer, Devil-Loc Deluxe, Radiator, MicroShift, Tremolator, Sie-Q, FilterFreak, PhaseMistress, PanMan and the Effect Rack. At last year's 60% off it would be about $239.60. EchoBoy and Decapitator alone list at $199 each, so the bundle at that price costs less than three single plugins.
The Soundtoys plugins worth owning
1. Soundtoys EchoBoy — the delay in 16 of 88 chains
Analog-modeled echo with tape, tube and digital styles, rhythm patterns and saturation. It's the most common Soundtoys plugin in my eBible's chains, usually as a slap or a quarter-note throw on a vocal.

2. Soundtoys Decapitator — the saturator engineers reach for
Five analog saturation styles from subtle warmth to full distortion. Great on drums, bass and parallel vocal chains.

Singles or the bundle?
If you only need EchoBoy for vocals, buy EchoBoy. If you'd use two or more of EchoBoy, Decapitator, SuperPlate and Crystallizer, the 5.5 bundle on sale costs about the same and gives you the rest for free. Soundtoys plugins need a free iLok account, not a dongle.
Waiting for Black Friday? Similar tools are cheap right now: Waves' H-Delay ($34.99, in 34 of the 88 chains) and the SSL X-Echo ($15) until November 1.
Buy now or wait?
Wait. Soundtoys wasn't discounted on October 29, and last year's sale ran from Black Friday week until December 4. I'll update this page during Black Friday week.
EchoBoy is in 16 of 88 chains. Here are all 88.
The Vocal Chain eBible collects 88 vocal chains from hit records, as the engineers described them to me: every plugin, its settings and the order it sits in. Each chain comes in two versions, one with paid plugins and one with free ones, so you know exactly what is worth buying this week.
