1. Plugin Boutique's free gift with every order
Every paid order at Plugin Boutique comes with a free product, and the choices get better as the order grows. On October 29, 2026 the tiers were: Moog's MF-109S Saturator (a $79 plugin) with any order, Dreamtonics' Synthesizer V Studio 2 Core at $79, and Celemony Melodyne 5 Essential (a $99 plugin) at $99. One gift per order. A $5 plugin is enough to unlock the base gift, so a cheap purchase can come with a much more expensive free plugin. The current gift lineup changes regularly.
2. Waves' Black Friday giveaway
Waves gives away a plugin almost every Black Friday, with limited licenses. In 2024 it was IDX Intelligent Dynamics (10,000 free licenses). In 2025, Waves ran a sign-up page and released the plugin on November 28: Magma StressBox, a one-knob compressor and expander. Both now sell at Plugin Boutique (IDX, StressBox). Watch Waves' site for this year's sign-up in November and claim it the day it drops.

4. Free plugins and libraries elsewhere this week
These aren't on Plugin Boutique, but they're legitimate and free as of late October 2026. Mastering The Mix is giving away BASSROOM, its low-end EQ, through an email sign-up. Vochlea is giving away Native Instruments' Empire Breaks, a boom bap drum instrument that runs in the free Kontakt Player. Details on both are in the linked Bedroom Producers Blog posts.
5. Freebies that come with Plugin Boutique membership
A free Plugin Boutique account includes a Best of Free VST Plugins bundle and 5% back in Virtual Cash on every order. Spend $100 in 12 months (Silver) and the partner perks include a free Bitwig Studio 8-Track license and three months of Loopcloud. At $200 (Gold), you can claim a free mystery plugin every month; October's was Roland's JUNO-60 Chorus. The membership page has the full list.
6. Turn a free plugin into a vocal chain
Free tools go further when you know where they sit in a chain. Every chain in my Vocal Chain eBible comes in two versions, one with paid plugins and one with free alternatives, so you can rebuild a hit-record vocal chain without spending anything on plugins. The best free compressors, free reverbs and free saturation guides cover the rest.
Free plugins, real chains.
The Vocal Chain eBible collects 88 vocal chains from hit records, as the engineers described them to me: every plugin, its settings and the order it sits in. Each chain comes in two versions, one with paid plugins and one with free ones, so you know exactly what is worth buying this week.

What free plugin is Waves giving away for Black Friday 2026?
Waves hadn't announced it as of October 29, 2026. In 2024 the giveaway was IDX Intelligent Dynamics and in 2025 Magma StressBox, released on November 28 through a sign-up page with limited licenses.
How do I get a free plugin from Plugin Boutique?
Make any paid purchase. On October 29, 2026, any order unlocked Moog's MF-109S Saturator, orders over $79 Synthesizer V Studio 2 Core, and orders over $99 Melodyne 5 Essential. One gift per order. Plugin Boutique also lists permanently free plugins like Wavesfactory Flash and Surge XT.
Is the Plugin Boutique free gift really free?
Yes. It's added to your order at no extra cost when your cart reaches the tier's minimum. Using Virtual Cash to drop below the minimum keeps the gift; a coupon that does the same removes it.
Are free plugins good enough for professional mixes?
Many are. Free compressors, EQs, reverbs and saturators can cover a whole mix, and the chains in the Vocal Chain eBible include a free version for every paid one.

5+ years ago I moved to LA with zero connections and started building from nothing — 14-hour days, meeting people and interning at studios. It took me 5+ years to meet and interview 100+ Grammy-winning engineers — then I turned it all into the Vocal Chain Bible.
