Secret Sauce Plugins Everybody Is Trying to Keep From You

I wanted to share some real secret (but not secret) sauce plugins that not everybody talks about openly. Some of them are basic, some are underrated, and some you may already know — but maybe you never used them the right way.

These are plugins that can really help your sound, your mix, and your workflow. Let’s get into it.

1. Waves Center

This is one of the biggest cheat codes for creating space in a mix. I learned about it from Jeff Ellis. When I need to create more room for vocals in a two-track mix, this is one of the first plugins I reach for. It is simple, fast, and super effective.

2. FabFilter Pro-G

This one is amazing for cleaning up noisy vocals. If someone sends you vocals with room noise or extra background sound, Pro-G can make them feel way cleaner and more controlled. It is one of those plugins people forget about, but it really works.

3. Swivel Audio Knocktonal

This is one of my personal favorite secret weapons. If you are tired of searching forever for the perfect snare or drum sound, this plugin can help you tune your drums to the key of the song. It is a very creative trick and it can make your drums feel more musical.

4. LiquidSonics Seventh Heaven

This is one of the best sounding reverbs out there in my opinion. It feels smooth, rich, and expensive. If you want beautiful vocal reverb, this is definitely one to try.

5. Decimort 2

If you want that underwater, vintage, or slightly degraded texture, this plugin is amazing. It can make loops feel old, emotional, and unique without doing too much.

6. Waves R-Vox

This one is simple, fast, and still one of the most useful vocal compressors out there. Sometimes simple is best, and R-Vox is one of those plugins that just works.

7. Magma BB Tubes

This is a great saturation plugin when you want sounds to feel closer, warmer, and more alive. If you want to bring a sound forward in the mix, this one can really help.

8. Eventide H910 Harmonizer

This plugin is pure sauce. If you want to make melodies, samples, or vocals feel more unique and more analog, this one can add a lot of character very quickly.

9. Lunacy Audio BEAM

This plugin is crazy in the best way. It gives you access to a lot of creative effects and textures, and it is perfect for producers who want their sounds to stand out.

10. Safari Audio Rabbit Tape

If you want cassette-style vibes, soft saturation, and a little lo-fi character, this plugin is a great choice. It sounds good, it is affordable, and it can add a lot of flavor without overdoing it.
