The key to ANY room is already in your pocket

The key to any room is already in your pocket.
Music-industry networking, reframed: how I went from zero connections to every studio owner in North Hollywood using the phone in your pocket.
Literally. It is your smartphone. Most people look at their phones as something to scroll on all day, but in reality, it’s one of the most powerful tools ever created.
In this AI era, the possibilities are basically endless. You can make almost everything now. Your ideas, your creativity, everything is endless. The only thing that stops you is your imagination, your ideas, your creativity, and the way how you’re gonna implement them.
The reason why I’m telling you this is because I’ve been there. I know, and I’m still working on it. But literally, the key to any room is in your pocket.
By that, I mean several things.
// 01You’re not just a producer anymore — you’re a creator
First, yeah, I know it’s super cliché when people say “make content and post content.” That’s the super common thing nowadays. And now we are not just producers anymore. We are content creators who are making music too, unfortunately.
But you don’t have to have a lot of followers. You don’t have to have millions or hundreds of thousands of followers if you’re posting some unique producer content or engineer content with a super unique style, unique look, graphic design, 3D motion, and all that stuff that can really help you open huge doors.
And it doesn’t matter where you are right now.
// 02Your phone provides value to other people
The second thing that I actually mean is that your phone itself can provide value to other people. Your smartphone is basically a small computer that can solve problems.
What do I mean by that?
People need content. People need help, assistance, maybe music, posting, editing, filming, emails, graphics, ideas, or just help with something. Your phone can do all those things.
And if you want to meet people and get into rooms, providing value is one of the greatest things you can do.
“Your smartphone is basically a cheat code that you probably don’t use to its full potential.
Use your smartphone, your laptop, or your tablet. These are actual tools that can help other people. You just need to understand how you can use them.
// 03Your phone is a connector to any room
The next thing is online connections. And I think this one comes together with content creation.
At least if your social media doesn’t look weird, it can already help you. But more importantly, you can DM a bunch of people consistently, connect with them, send them your music, send them your work, and collaborate with as many people as possible.
“Your smartphone is a connector to any room.
You can be somewhere overseas and still DM people and connect with talented people around the world. And this thing is in your hands and in your pocket almost 24/7.
// 04Why I’m telling you this
So the point of this article is to give you motivation, inspiration, and maybe a slightly different perspective that can help you think another way.
Because this little piece of plastic is actually a life-changing thing. Most people just don’t use it that much.
// 05How I started with zero connections
Yeah, I know everybody says this already, but I genuinely know what I’m talking about because I came here almost six years ago with zero connections.
I started my journey with two studios called The Watch. I talk about this in my networking course too.
What I did was simple. I offered them value.
I told them, “Let me make videos for you. Let me help you.”
That way, I could provide value for them, and maybe they could help me too if I needed recommendations or connections.
I ended up doing probably more than 500 videos for them and different artists. I did content for artists for free. I was filming, editing, and doing everything on the spot just using my iPhone.
And I stayed consistent. I showed up.
Then they started connecting me with other studio owners, and I started filming content for them too.
I was trying to be useful. I offered my services for free to almost anyone who might be interested because I understood that once people see value in your work, they remember you.
That’s how I met almost every studio owner in North Hollywood and Hollywood and made my first real connections with most of them.
And also, I wasn’t big. I didn’t have followers. I was just doing online and offline networking, being a good person, showing up, and providing value.
// 06The step-by-step you can run today
So in order to make this article more practical and not just “talking into the air,” let me give you an actual practical step-by-step guide you can follow right now.
And honestly, if this helps you, DM me one day and tell me it worked.
If you’re an audio engineer and you want to grow fast, the first thing you can do right now using your iPhone is DM 50 of your favorite audio engineers around the world. Doesn’t matter where they are.
Tell them:
“Hey, I’m this type of engineer. I have experience with Pro Tools, editing, organizing sessions, and I would love to help you and make your workflow more efficient.”
Offer to do the dirty work nobody wants to do. Email them. DM them. Reach out consistently.
If you’re a music producer and you want more collaborations, stop only spamming loops. Open Instagram and DM 50 producers. For this one, it’s better if they are in the same city, but it’s not necessary.
Tell them:
“Hey, I’m a music producer, but I also know how to film content, edit videos, and help grow brands. If you need help with content or social media, I would love to help you out.”
And honestly, I bet a lot of those people will say yes. Right now, many big producers who are popping need help with content because they want to focus on the art.
You can do the same thing with artists too. Find artists with 50k, 100k followers, or artists you genuinely like and offer the same thing.
// 07The key is quantity and consistency
The key is quantity and consistency.
You need to DM at least 50 people in order to maybe find the best 2 or 3 people you really connect with.
And then work with them consistently. Not for a month. Work with them for at least a year and grow together.
“That’s how real relationships are built.
// 08And then there’s AI
AI is another massive tool that literally changed my life too. You just need to learn some unique way, your own unique lane, and understand how you can use this tool in your workflow.
These simple things can actually become a great start.
